We used to play a 50+ person Texas Hold'em poker tournament each month. It's starting back up again.

Manassas Home Poker Tournament

It's been three years almost to the week, but we just had a home poker tournament again.  That's quite a hiatus.  This one was in Manassas, a $100 buy-in with a cash game afterwards. The general consensus was that everyone wanted to play again, so we plan on having another tournament in two weeks, or Saturday, April 2, 2010.

Poker Tournament
Just before the tournament began, the players broke open the seal on new decks of Copag playing cards, two decks per table.  We used the Copag "export" design, as well as the "Texas Hold'em" back design - which actually looks the same as the export design just with a white border around the edges.

The poker tournament had only two tables of players.  That is disappointing considering the last tournament we had in Reston had over 50 players.  There is the three year hiatus and the fact it is a new location we have never had a home poker game before.  I think the biggest thing is that back in Reston we had had some exploratory cash games and people knew where the location was and were familiar with it when we started the tournaments there.

A number of people who said they could not come to this tournament said they wanted to come to the next one, so we should have a larger group in two weeks.

Cash Ring Game
The poker cash game was $1/$2 no limit Texas Hold'em Poker with a $60 minimum buy-in and a $300 maximum buy-in.  No straddles were allowed.  We played with two decks to get in more hands per hour.  We used White, Red, and Green poker chips to match poker chip casino colors for $1, $5, and $25 chips.  The actual chips in play were Nexgen Las Vegas Edge Spot chips.  Each poker chip is two different colors and resembles a casino style poker chip.
